I have deep empathy for the fact women are given little room to develop a nuanced, trusting, confident relationship with themselves and yet, they are asked to embody grace, grit and self assuredness in all areas. This is a set up, and often results in confusion, anger and various manifestations of distress. While working with women, I support them in gaining insight into their life experiences, and identifying their own thoughts, feelings and needs, not the ones that have been imposed upon them. From here, we can begin to challenge maladaptive patterns resulting in a healthy entitlement to navigating life with authenticity and self worth (which isn’t always graceful!).

I provide therapy for women who are struggling with overwhelming anxiety, irritation and anger, low self worth, self doubt, consistent low grade depression, chronic exhaustion and/or high stress. Some of the specific problems that often make their way to my therapy office are:

  • difficulty finding or sustaining a sense of balance

  • infertility including difficulty conceiving and pregnancy losses

  • adoption

  • choosing not to have children

  • becoming a parent

  • choices around birth

  • birth trauma

  • post-partum challenges such as depression, anxiety, exhaustion, nursing difficulties, stress of partnerships

  • emotional or physical intimacy struggles

  • career shifts

  • compulsive caregiving and accommodation

  • struggling with a relentless inner critic

  • difficulty identifying and asserting one’s needs and boundaries
